Apple today has made a notable change to the App Store experience for users in Israel. Apple today has started the process of localizing the App Store to Hebrew, including featured stories in the Today tab and more. With today’s change, featured stories in the App Store’s Today tab are now localized to Hebrew. This means the text itself is in Hebrew, while it’s also laid out right-to-left. Category names also now appear in Hebrew alongside their dedicated icons....

Apple is partnering with Burberry to help the luxury fashion retailer create a more personal shopping experience. A new service called “R Message” will integrate with Burberry’s iOS app and allow store associates to directly message select clients. The service will be available by invitation only and piloted before rolling out to every Burberry store. According to Vogue Business, Burberry store associates currently use an internal app known as R World for inventory management and to receive company news....

Apple says its iCloud Mail is seeing some downtime this morning. It doesn’t look like the service is fully unavailable but some users are seeing “intermittent issues.” Update 8:40 am PT: Apple is still working on a fix for iCloud Mail and has noted that iCloud web apps are also unavailable for some. Update 9:30 am PT: Apple says it has fixed both the iCloud Mail and iCloud web apps outage....
If Tim Cook’s strongly-worded response to the court order instructing it to assist the FBI in breaking into an iPhone left any room for doubt about Apple’s determination to fight the matter all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, that doubt appears to be removed by further background emerging today. With an update coming this fall, Apple Fitness+ will no longer require an Apple Watch. Fitness+ will be available to all iPhone users for the first time. With iOS 16, the Fitness app is now available to all iPhone users. And with an update to iOS 16 — possibly iOS 16.1 — the Fitness+ tab will also be unlocked for all. When Fitness+ debuted in the fall of 2020, Apple stressed it was designed around the Apple Watch experience....
A jury today in Madison, Wisconsin has found Apple guilty of using technology owned by the University of Wisconsin without permission. According to a report from Reuters, Apple used chip technology owned by the university in its A7, A8, and A8X processors, which are found in the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and several iPad variants. The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation originally sued Apple over the issue in January of 2014, saying that Apple infringed on its 1998 patent that handed improving chip efficiency....
Apple has hired two top Sony Television executives Jamie Ehrlicht and Zack Van Amburg, to take up new positions as co-heads of video programming worldwide for Apple. The company announced the hirings in a press release. The execs oversaw blockbuster TV shows including Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and The Crown. It seems like Apple is now taking original content production seriously. Ehrlicht and Amburg will report directly to Apple SVP Eddy Cue, when they join the company later in the summer....
It looks like Apple might be stepping up its presence in Washington as Politico reports that Apple has hired a new firm to represent them. With all of the money Apple’s competitors like Adobe, Microsoft, Google and others have been spending, it only makes sense that Apple keeps up with the Joneses. Apple quietly launched a new option to protect AirPods and some of its Beats headphones and earphones today with AppleCare+. Accidental coverage for two years comes with the super-affordable price of $29. And it’s possible to add the coverage to AirPods and other eligible headphones if you’ve purchased them within the last 60 days. Apple detailed the new AppleCare+ for Headphones plan on its website today. Apple highlights that the AppleCare+ for Headphones includes repair or replacement for the earphones/headphones, battery, and included charging cable....
Windows users can enjoy Apex Legends even on their PC using the Bluestacks application. The Bluestacks application is an emulator that can run almost any Android program that the user throws at it. Specific programs that require high Performance will also demand decent hardware on your PC to run the application. And Apex Legends is one of those. But some users, despite having a capable machine, cannot run Apex Legends on their PC....
In black and white, the note (on page 26 of the report) reads: “The increases in Mac net sales and unit sales were driven primarily by sales of the new MacBook Air, introduced in January 2008, and higher sales of the iMac and other Mac portable systems.” The report notes Mac unit growth of 51 per cent and 48 per cent in the second quarter of Q2 and first six months of 2008 respectively, observing the rate of growth strongly exceeds the industry average....
Despite day one of the trial not having wrapped up yet, Qualcomm and Apple have reached a settlement in their royalty dispute. CNBC first cited sources in saying that the two companies have reached an agreement. Apple has now published a press release detailing the agreement. Apple says it has reached a deal with Qualcomm that will see it make a settlement payment to the chipmaker. Further, the two have reached a six-year license agreement effective as of April 1, 2019....
Apple has reportedly banned single station radio apps — even as digital radio manufacturer, PURE, introduces its well-regarded digital radio-cum-portal service as an app made available via the App Store. Radio apps have been around on the store for some time, but Apple appears to have changed its policy on these. This emerged after Jim Barcus, president of DJ Radio Apps, approached the company to ask why ten of his single station radio apps had been rejected....
