Over the last few days, Apple has seemingly started cracking down on applications that share location data with third-parties. In such cases, Apple has been removing the application in question and informing developers that their app violates two parts of the App Store Review Guidelines… Thus far, we’ve seen several cases of Apple cracking down on these types of applications. The company informs developers via email that “upon re-evaluation,” their application is in violation of sections 5....

Apple’s appealing against a court decision which could see the company hand over as much as $625.5 million in damages relating to technologies relating to Spotlight, Time Machine and Cover Flow. The verdict was issued last Friday, when US District Judge Leonard David presided over a jury who declared Apple was guilty of patent abuse. The patents relate to work by Yale professor David Gerlenter whose spin-off firm Mirror Worlds Technologies launched the lawsuit....

In addition to expanding the amount of content on the service, Apple has shown an interest in bundling Apple TV+ with other properties. In August, the company launched a heavily-discounted Showtime + CBS combo subscription for Apple TV+ members. Apple has sued the Canadian electronics recycling company Geep after it was caught illegally selling over 100,000 Apple devices that were supposed to be recycled. Geep is saying that the responsibility should fall on the three employees that acted on their own but an interesting twist here is that they were reportedly Geep executives. Lots of people plan to buy the iPhone X, but Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak isn’t one of them – at least, not on day one. He said this will be the first year he doesn’t upgrade to a new iPhone at launch … Woz made the comment to CNBC, though didn’t explain why. Ahead of the first orders arriving to customers on Friday, Apple has published a new press release today recapping the new iMac, iPad Pro, and Apple TV 4K. The company confirms that the three new products will hit Apple Stores on the same day. Apple also confirms that while only select colors of the iMac will be available to purchase at Apple Stores, all seven will be on display. Apple has announced today that it will build a new office building on its campus in Cork, Ireland. As the tech giant expands its workforce in the country, this new building can accommodate up to 1,300 staff. The Cupertino company said both current and new staff will work in the four-story facility. While it’s not sure how many staff will be added, it’s expected most of this facility will include new hires....

Apple has halted sales of nearly all of its products in Turkey in response to a worsening economic crisis in the country. Apple is making good on one of its recent promises to developers. Starting today, App Store developers now have over 700 different new price points from which to choose for their apps. This brings the total number of price point options to 900, with options ranging from as low as $0.29 all the way up to $10,000. Developers now have more flexibility for App Store prices Apple first said it would add new App Store price point options last year, as part of its settlement of a class-action lawsuit from US developers....

If Apple plans to offer artist exclusives as a way to encourage sign-ups to its rebranded Beats Music streaming service, it will be facing new competition. TechCrunch reports that Tidal, the high-definition music service being relaunched later today by new owner Jay Z, is set to announce some exclusive deals with big-name artists. Apple CEO Tim Cook today posted an open letter on Apple’s website that addresses the recent protests and riots fuelled by the death of George Floyd under police arrest, described by Cook as a “senseless killing”.
