WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Wonder Woman.

Antiope’s death was a catalyst for Diana to leave Themyscira and track down Ares to stop World War I, but that did not make the fact that audiences would not be seeing any more of her easier to digest. Well, it turns out that Antiope will be back in the DCEU and part of the packed cast for Justice League.

In an interview with LA Times, Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Connie Nielsen (Hippolyta), and Wright were asked about the family relationships that Wonder Woman explores. Even though there is not much time dedicated to this thanks to Diana leaving Paradise Island, it not only appears that Diana and Hippolyta will be together in Justice League (as previously confirmed), but also that Antiope will be there as well:

Considering how Wonder Woman plays out and Diana’s subsequent appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it would be quite surprising to see Diana and her mother reunited in the present day to begin with. When the presence of Antiope is added to the mix, then it makes absolutely no sense considering the fate she suffered 70-80 years before Justice League. However, thanks to what has been shown in the marketing already, it could be easy to pinpoint where this dynamic could be seen.

Gadot: Of course; the mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there’s a lot more to explore.

Nielsen: And [Wright and I] got to do more in “Justice League” as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can’t say much, but …

Wright: And more of the story, you get some of the history.

With the allied forces of man, Atlantis, and Themyscira fighting in this opening scene, defeating the threat, and splitting up possession of the Mother Boxes, these additional scenes could also feature Wright alongside Nielsen and Gadot. Regardless of whether the scenes are action, dialogue driven, or both, bringing Robin Wright back for what should be a small role will please all the fans that came to love her in Wonder Woman, and possibly continue to show why she was a perfect choice to train Diana down the road.
