Apple has announced a new “TV” app for Apple TV that aggregates TV shows from video content apps. Building on universal search, the TV app unifies the TV experience into a single interface from all installed video apps.

The TV shows and movies listed only show content that you can access, by looking at the apps you have installed in Apple TV. The TV app is available on iPhone, iPad and the TV for living room viewing. The app will launch in the United States by the end of the year.

The TV app includes an Up Next queue to continue watching TV shows and movies as part of a ‘Watch Now’ screen. There is also a Library tab which houses all existing purchases. There is also an integrated store with content from iTunes, HBO and many other partners.

As expected, Siri is also integrated with the new TV app so you can start shows using your voice and Apple’s personal assistant. The TV app includes curated suggestions from Apple’s editors as well as algorithmic suggestions.

Here’s how Apple describes it:

“Using apps on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad has become the primary way for so many of us to watch television,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The TV app shows you what to watch next and easily discover TV shows and movies from many apps in a single place.”
