Just a few hours after the end of its ‘Gather round’ event at Steve Jobs Theater, Apple had a handful of products pass through the FCC. The filings relate to the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, and Apple Watch Series 4.
While the equipment authorization requests were originally sent to the Federal Communications Commission by Apple back on July 2nd, 2018, only today did the fillings become public as Apple requested confidentiality.
The filings released by the FCC don’t show detailed images of any of today’s Apple products, but they do dive deeper into the technical aspect of the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, and Apple Watch Series 4.
The model numbers listed in these documents for the new iPhones are identical to the ones Apple filed in the Eurasian database back in July. The FCC just does a much better job at keeping these things under wraps, it seems.
Interestingly, it seems Apple has not yet disclosed the model number of each regional iPhone XR. For instance, A2107, A2106, and A2105 are not yet listed on Apple’s website, but based on trends are likely iPhone XR models for various countries around the world.
In the past, FCC filings have offered some interesting details about Apple’s various products. For instance, in 2015 FCC filings detailed the powered Apple Watch band it used in retail stores to keep demo units fueled. Interestingly, Apple has disclosed the ‘magnetic charging bracelet’ device again in this year’s fillings. Early reports also show concerns about the iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max RF output.
