With recent spats with the FBI and the Obama administration, Apple’s presence in Washington is growing rapidly. Today it was revealed that Apple hired insider Cynthia Hogan to head up its Washington office. Politico broke the story:

Hogan will serve as vice president for public policy and government affairs at Apple and report to VP of environment, policy and social initiatives, Lisa Jackson, who joined the company from the EPA in 2013 and reports directly to CEO Tim Cook. Politico notes she’ll be responsible not only for US operations from Washington, but also Latin America and Canada.

Hogan is no stranger to controversy having presided over an NFL dealing with serious health issues involved with concussions and head injuries, “Deflategate” and the local Washington “Redskins” derogatory name.

Before the NFL she was a top aide to US Vice President Joe Biden, which will certainly come in handy, for the next year anyway.
