After announcing Apple Watch Series 4 and new Apple Watch bands yesterday, Apple got rid of some of its older bands. This is normal, however, as Apple moves bands in and out every few months as it refreshes the bands for new seasons.
Upon initial inspection, it appeared that the Apple Link Bracelets were being discontinued and no longer available for sale. However, a direct link to the old page still shows that Apple is selling both the stainless steel and space black models.
To sweeten the deal, Apple has decided to drop the price of both models by $100. While it’s still relatively expensive, coming in at $349 and $449 for the stainless steel and space black Link Bracelets respectively, it is still a really good band that has some clever engineering behind it.
Unlike traditional link bracelets, the individual links can be removed with a simple button mechanism, and a smart butterfly clasp that prevents the Watch from falling off the wrist.
However, it does look like Apple is planning to completely discontinue the band as the 42mm stainless steel bracelet is already sold out with no signs of new stock. Retailers such as Best Buy are notably missing that model as well, which likely hints that the 42mm stainless steel bracelet has been out of stock for a long time. These retailers are also still showing the old pricing vs. Apple’s new pricing, which is now $100 less.
