Now the company is finally letting developers create custom offer codes for in-app subscriptions. As announced on the Apple Developer website, developers can now create their own custom discount codes (like SPRINGPROMO) to distribute to customers, similar to what online stores already offer. Previously, discount codes were randomly generated and also one-time use, meaning that the developer had to generate a code for each person....

Today is the payment due date for many Apple Card users, and Apple servers are suffering from a poorly-timed outage. According to Apple, “Apple Pay services are currently unavailable” and users “may not be able to add Apple Card to Wallet, pay their bill, apply for Apple Card.” Update: Apple says this issue has been resolved. Apple CEO Tim Cook made a surprise appearance on “The Tonight Show” yesterday. Cook joined Jimmy Fallon and Lady Gaga via FaceTime, committing that Apple will make a donation to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The lighthearted video, which aired on last night’s episode of “The Tonight Show,” features Lady Gaga making an impromptu FaceTime call to Tim Cook. After well over a year of planning and construction, Apple’s first ever retail store in Austria has an opening date set for February 24th, according to a teaser page on Apple’s retail website. Apple, just a week and a half after initially introducing its new ad campaign, has today shared another new iPhone ad. The video advertisement is part of the “If it’s not an iPhone, it’s not an iPhone” campaign and focuses on the App Store that comes along with owning an iPhone. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook announced the Cupertino company will be donating to “relief efforts on the ground” due to those affected by Hurricane Ian as the storm pummels Florida. As usual, Apple did not disclose how much it will donate. Tim Cook tweeted the following statement: The announcement comes in the middle of a Eurotrip the company’s CEO is taking. Analyst Ben Thompson believes that US antitrust legislation could put the Apple ecosystem at risk unless the company is prepared to compromise on the App Store. Apple is currently aiming to unveil the new 4-inch the iPhone 5se, the iPad Air 3, and new Apple Watch band options at an event on Tuesday, March 15th, according to sources. We previously reported that Apple was on track to launch the new products during the week of March 14th. As the scheduled event is still a month-and-a-half away, the date could conceivably still shift or turn into an online announcement....

Apple has confirmed with press that its next media event — the opening keynote of WWDC — will take place on June 4th at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. The keynote will be held in San Jose, California, at the McEnery Convention Center where Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference is held. First, on the iPhone go to Settings » Messages » Receive At. This shows the addresses you receive iMessages at on your iPhone. By default this will be your iPhone’s number and your Apple ID. Add the email addresses that you’d like people to use to send you iMessages. The great thing about this is you can have coworkers, friends, and family all send you iMessages at separate email addresses....

Analytics firm Distimo is out today with the full results of its year-end 2012 app analytics report (via Fortune). While Apple is still the clear winner in terms of revenue, Google Play showed significant growth in the last four months. Its daily revenue grew 43 percent in 20 major markets.
