After teasing a late spring launch for its new Business Manager platform for enterprise users, Apple announced the U.S. launch this week during a developer session at WWDC. Apple Business Manager will then launch globally in 34 countries starting June 20, followed by an expansion to another 31 countries this summer alongside Apple School Manager. The Business Manager platform was previously in beta with a select group of partners since earlier this year....

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced today that Apple Card will soon be adding a new feature for iPhone financing. Starting later this year, Apple Card users will be able to finance iPhone purchases with 0% interest. Cook made the announcement on Apple’s Q4 2019 earnings call this evening. When the feature rolls out later this year, Apple Card users will be able to finance iPhone purchases over 24 months with 0% interest....

Apple announced that Apple Card is available to everyone in the United States from today. To sign up, simply open the Wallet app on your iPhone and begin the application process. In a press release, Apple Pay VP Jennifer Bailey said Apple was “thrilled” with the interest in Apple’s credit card. Apple also announced that it is extending the 3% Daily Cash offer to third-party merchants, starting with Uber and Uber Eats....

Apple’s partner bank for the Apple Card, Goldman Sachs, has disclosed that it is facing an investigation by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The investigation is focused on Goldman’s credit card account management practices in the United States, of which Apple Card is a major component. As reported by Reuters, Goldman disclosed the investigation in its quarterly form 10-Q filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is the top United States agency and watchdog for consumer protection in the financial sector....

Apple is celebrating 15 years of its partnership with (RED), the organization that fights to end AIDS. Through support to the Global Fund, it provides access to healthcare services in communities most in need in sub-Saharan Africa. On World AIDS Day, today, Apple is offering new ways for customers to learn, engage, and donate. As it did last year, it’s raising funds and awareness to support people on the front lines of both AIDS and COVID-19....

Any regular user of the service can speak for how regular of an occurrence this is, and Apple is consistently slow to confirm any service disruption. Notably, when Apple does admit any downtime, it typically downplays the issue while our own experience and that of the good people on Twitter reflects otherwise....

Lawyer Normand Painchaud spoke with The Montreal Gazette about his class-action suit filed in Quebec Superior Court and talked about two others filed in Ontario and British Columbia: Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail reported yesterday that a similar class-action suit filed in B.C. Apple has a number of new financing programs in the works to make shopping easier, and the first of those two efforts are now live. Qualifying Apple customers in Canada can now finance iPhone, iPad, and Mac purchases over 12 or 24 months with 0% APR. The rollout starts in Canada today and is powered by Affirm, which recently went public. When customers purchase a device that qualifies, a new financing option is available at checkout that prompts shoppers to apply for Affirm financing....

One of Apple’s main flash storage suppliers has revealed a large-scale contamination incident at its production facilities, with TrendForce warning that this could see NAND chip prices rise by up to 10%. A tax hike in India on imported smartphones announced last week has hit iPhone prices as predicted. The company has increased prices of every model except the locally made SE by an average of 3.5% … Reuters reports that this makes the iPhone X even more expensive in a country where Apple currently has just a 3% market share. The import tax on imported iPhones was increased from 10% to 15% in a bid to encourage local manufacturing....

TF Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is today forecasting that Apple will sell about 10% more iPhones in the first quarter of 2020, due to strong replacement demand for iPhone 11 and the launch of the “iPhone SE 2” starting in the same period. In terms of the calendar holiday quarter, Kuo expects shipments of 70-75 million new iPhone units (iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro combined), which could have been higher if not for supply constraints....

Tim Cook is scheduled to make an appearance in Birmingham, Alabama, tomorrow, according to local media reports. TechAlabama and the city’s mayor Randall Woodfin will hold a news conference with the Apple CEO. While each party has been tight-lipped about exactly what will be announced in education tomorrow, we suspect Birmingham public schools may be adopting Apple’s Everyone Can Code curriculum.
