After cutting its California self-driving test fleet to 54 in May, Apple has been consistently expanding the number of drivers as months go by. Now, the company has 137 drivers. As spotted by macReports with numbers from the California DMV, Apple is slowly going closer to the number of drivers it had last October: 154. Unfortunately, one number that doesn’t change at all is how many self-driving vehicles the company has....

The software developer credited by Apple for discovering last year’s developer center flaw says that he informed Apple of an iCloud weakness that may have been used to obtain celebrity nudes more than six months before the photos were accessed. The Daily Dot reports that Ibrahim Balic advised Apple in March of a Find My Phone weakness that would allow brute-force attacks on iCloud accounts. It has been suggested that this may have been one of the methods used to access the accounts – or even complete iPhone backups – of celebrities … While Apple issued a statement that appeared at first glance to deny this vulnerability was used, some suggested that the wording used may have been carefully chosen....

Apple is officially putting its weight behind new LGBT anti-discrimination legislature currently being proposed in Congress. The company said in a statement to the Human Rights Campaign that it actively supports the Equality Act. Apple’s support for the bill that would expand federal protections in the workplace to LGBT Americans in all states follows several years of Apple CEO Tim Cook calling on Congress to pass such legislation, and Apple’s backing is in line with its own company policies....

The long-awaited Siri Speaker will likely be finding its way onto home countertops later this year. Apple has begun manufacturing the speaker and could find its debut at this year’s WWDC 2017, according to Bloomberg. Bloomberg sources stated that the Apple smart speaker will differ from its competitors by bringing in “virtual surround sound technology” and deep integration with Apple’s current lineup. Apple is releasing Apple Fitness+ in 15 new countries today. With that, Jay Blahnik, Apple’s VP of Fitness Technology, gave an interview to the Brazilian newspaper O GLOBO to talk about this launch and what users can expect in the future. Available in the US for about nine months, Apple Fitness+ features 11 different exercises with dozens of classes and many instructors to help everyone who wants to close their Apple Watch rings....

It looks like Apple is running another “Lose Your Wallet” shopping event, encouraging users to use the company’s Apple Pay mobile payment service by offering discounts at select stores. The event previously ran in June of 2017, in San Fransisco. This time, it’s being held in Los Angeles. There will be discounts at 14 retailers in Westwood, with 20 in Abbot Kinney, running from March 1 through March 23. Merchants will be offering deep discounts ranging from 10-50% off merchandise, with certain retailers offering special offers or gifts with your purchase....

Apple has identified an issue affecting some Apple Watch Series 3 models resulting in a row of several visible stripe markings along the side of the watch’s display. We’ve learned Apple has recently informed its retail and authorized third-party repair staff of the issue that it says is affecting some Apple Watch Series 3 GPS models. The issue is mostly noticeable when the display is turned off, as pictured in the image above from Apple’s internal materials describing the problem....

Apple today announced its next-generation MacBook Air, starting at $1199, featuring the just-announced M2 chip inside. The new MacBook Air has a redesigned enclosure and comes in striking new case colors. The new Air design comes in silver, space gray, starlight, midnight, and gold. The previous teardrop wedge shape has been replaced with a simpler, flat-edged chassis. Just days before Apple’s big March 25th event where it will unveil a new subscription news service, the company has revealed plans to support three media literacy programs in the United States and across Europe. Each program shares a similar goal in combating so-called fake news (fictitious stories intended to drive traffic and not spread truth).
